The Danish Shortwave Club International

Annual General Meeting and DX-Camp 2002
3th - 5th May at Vejers Strand

17 persons from four nations did enjoy our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and DX-Camp on May 03-05 at a scout camp on the west coast of Jutland, Denmark in the village of Vejers Strand where we celebrated the 45th anniversary of the DSWCI. Guest of Honour was Toshi Ohtake from the Japan SW Club who came to Denmark particularly for this event. You can read the full report from the AGM in SWN May/June (in the member section).

After the AGM three interesting lectures were given:
Toshi Ohtake: 50 years of the JSWC and DX-ing in Japan.
Andreas Schmid:  Slideshow from Ecuador and Galapagos.
Anker Petersen: DX-ing in the third world, with taperecordings.
This was followed by a very delicious Danish buffet prepared by Karin Nielsen.

During the two nights the 500 watts Italian private station R Europe in Pioltello did broadcast 26 hours dedicated to our DX-Camp for which we were grateful. During its first hour there was no QRM and it was clearly heard at our excellent DX-location.

The reception conditions were fantastic at the sea and with antennas up to 200 meters long. There is very little local electrical noise in dunes and the path towards Bolivia crosses just water until Belem in Brazil. The ionospheric values were measured to:
May 03  May 04 May 05
Solar flux 179.1 189.5 180.0
A-Index 7 8 8
Number of solar flares 6 9 6

Saturday morning, different tours were arranged to Blaavand Light House, an Amber museum in Oksbøl and a walking tour in the very special surroundings at Vejers.
