The New Year 2007 is quickly approaching and it is time for a few
reflections about year 2006 in the DSWCI. As you all know, the Club was
formed on Nov 18, 1956 and we did celebrate this big anniversary in many
ways throughout the past year. Our history was described in a jubilee
publication which hopefully has been received by all present members.
On March 24 began our first Jubilee Listening Contest "The Grand Tour with
Cancer and Capricorn" organized by Jaroslav Bohac. It lasted 16 days and had
17 participants from 14 countries. On May 04-07 we had our annual DX-Camp in
Vejers with many activities and 34 persons participating from 8 countries.
We had the following special radio broadcasts celebrating the 50 years
Anniversary:
May 04: Live FM-broadcast from Radio Charlie in Varde, Denmark with Kaj
Bredahl Jorgensen and Kurt Pedersen in the studio. The DSWCI issued special
QSL-cards and this broadcast was verified to 10 DX-ers in 4 countries.
May 06: Scandinavian Weekend Radio, Finland, did propagate very poorly and
was only verified to 1 German DX-er.
May 06-07: Nine hours special broadcast from Pirate station "Mystery Radio"
somewhere in Europe could be verified to 34 DX-ers in 13 countries.
May 06-08:
Radio Japan with phone interview of Anker Petersen was widely heard and could be
verified to 69 DX-ers in 21 countries.
May 27-29:
Radio Japan with report from the AGM by Toshimichi Ohtake was widely heard and
could be verified to 46 DX-ers in 17 countries.
Nov 04-05: Seven hours special broadcast from revived Radio St. Helena with
the organizer Robert Kipp in studio. There were recorded interviews of DSWCI
members Tibor Szilagyi (Sweden/Hungary), Toshimichi Ohtake (Japan) and Anker
Petersen (Denmark). Despite only 1 kW of power, it was widely heard and so
far the DSWCI has sent QSLs to 217 DX-ers in 27 countries.
Finally on the Anniversary Day, Nov 18, a 60 metreband monitoring contest
was organized by Anker Petersen which resulted in 322 loggings from 8
participants in 8 countries.
The Board hereby thanks all the many DX-ers around the world who in various
ways have participated in celebrating the 50 years Anniversary of our
international Shortwave Club and thereby made 2006 a successful year for the
DSWCI!
